THE METROPOLITAN AREA GRID
The GRID computing is an important new field of research born with the goal of share many resources on large-scale between multi-institutional virtual organizations. Therefore many features introduced by the Grid like the virtualization of resources, the ability of single sign-on or the ability to manage many virtual organizations in a very dynamic environment, can be very useful in a more limited context than the large international collaboration. Today beside the big national and international GRID projects, has emerged some distributed computational systems, GRID based, implemented on metropolitan scale that we call Metropolitan Area Grid (MAG).
