My research activity is in the field of Nonlinear
Optics and Quantum Optics.
In the 70's I got some pionieristic measurements of the nonlinear optical
response of the hydrogen molecule in the zone of Dicke's narrowing, using
for the first time the CARS (Coherent Antistokes Raman Spectroscopy). In
the 80's I founded the Optics in Soft-Matter group at the University of Naples. The experimental activity of this
group was in the following fields
a) Surface
Plasmons (1981-1984)
b) Spontaneous
formation of spatial patterns
(1993-1997)
c) Optical
reorientation in liquid crystals (1984-today)
d) Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) of light with q-plates (2006-today)
e) Quantum Optics with photon OAM (today)
