In our group, we investigate the interaction of laser light with those delicate phases of matter known collectively as soft matter, including liquids, liquid crystals, polymers, Langmuir films, etc. We are interested for example in studying the complex nonlinear optical phenomena arising in such interaction, in developing novel electro-optical applications based on these materials, and in understanding the behavior of certain extremely light-sensitive new materials.

The Naples Optics in Soft-Matter Group currently consists of the following three laboratories (in brackets the corresponding principal investigators):
